The goal of this surgery is to enhance breast size, shape, and position for a fuller and more youthful appearance. This procedure addresses both volume loss and sagging of the breasts. It is often indicated when an implant augmentation alone is unlikely to take up the excess slackened skin of a sagging breast or when the breast tissue itself is sitting too low on the chest wall.
Candidates for augmentation mastopexy include those with sagging or drooping breasts due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight fluctuations and those seeking to increase breast size whilst lifting and reshaping the breasts.
Incisions and scars associated with this procedure typically are located around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and sometimes along the crease itself.
At your initial consultation, your consultant will explain the procedure in great detail; discuss the size and shape of your breasts, your expectations and what he/she can achieve for you. This makes sure you have realistic expectations of the results.
Aside from the important discussion regarding breast shape and size, Your surgeon will want to evaluate your current physical health and health history. This is to ensure you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Because this is an elective procedure, you and Your surgeon will, naturally, carefully discuss the benefits and risks involved, as is the case with any surgical procedure.
The augmented mastopexy procedure involves the Surgeon removing the excess skin from around the breast creating a much more pert breast. giving it a much more youthful appearance. The excess skin is then removed and the implant inserted
You will need someone to take you home when you are discharged by Your surgeon as you will not be able to drive. You may have some dressings around your breasts and a surgical bra or elasticised bandage depending on your surgeon’s preference.
Initially, your breasts will feel firm and may be swollen and will be sitting high on your chest. As the swelling goes down, they will drop into a more natural position and shape. Your surgeon can tell you more about the typical recovery process and may make recommendations based on your individual case but by and large expect to take between 1-2 weeks off work. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently and the River Medical team/we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.
You can rest assured that Your surgeon and nursing staff will be on hand 24/7 to answer even the most minor or personal of questions you may have.
